MacBook Pro M5 Max + CalDigit TS5: Can It Run Four 4K Monitors?
Yes. Apple and CalDigit both document a four-display path for the M5 Max MacBook Pro paired with the CalDigit TS5. Four external 4K displays at 60 Hz fall within the documented display limits.
Setup checked
Why this setup works
Apple documents support for up to four external displays on the M5 Max MacBook Pro.
Apple lists a four-display configuration at resolutions up to 6K at 60 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz. Four 4K monitors at 60 Hz are therefore below that documented ceiling.
Apple also specifically states that the M5 Max can support up to four external displays over a single Thunderbolt port.
CalDigit separately states that M5 Max computers can support up to four external displays from a single TS5 dock connection.
Do you need DisplayLink?
No.
This is a native Thunderbolt 5 display configuration. DisplayLink Manager is not required simply to achieve the four-display goal documented for the M5 Max and TS5.
Can the TS5 charge the M5 Max MacBook Pro?
Yes. CalDigit specifies up to 140W of host power delivery through the TS5's Thunderbolt 5 / USB4 host connection.
This allows the TS5 to provide laptop power while carrying the dock connection for displays and other peripherals.
Four monitors still require the right connections
A supported four-display count does not mean every monitor, adapter, or cable combination will automatically work.
Use display hardware that supports the required resolution and refresh rate, and follow CalDigit's documented TS5 display-connection guidance.
